H-E-B, the well-known Texas grocery store chain, has acquired land in Sherman, located approximately 70 miles north of Dallas. The company purchased 19.8 acres near the northwest quadrant of the intersection of FM 1417 and U.S. 75, as confirmed by a company spokesperson. This acquisition marks another step in H-E-B’s ongoing expansion strategy within North Texas.
While no specific timeline for construction has been established, H-E-B spokesperson Mabrie Jackson expressed optimism about future developments. “We look forward to serving more Texans in the coming years,” Jackson stated. The timing of this announcement coincides with H-E-B’s earlier acquisition of 22.8 acres in Flower Mound, where the company plans to initiate construction on a new store in the fall.
Recent Expansion Plans
The Flower Mound site is situated at the northeast corner of U.S. 377 and Cross Timbers Road. As with the Sherman location, no construction date has yet been set for the Flower Mound store, according to the same H-E-B representative. This recent land purchase follows H-E-B’s announcement of plans to build a new store near the Walsh Ranch development in West Fort Worth, further demonstrating the company’s commitment to expanding its presence in the region.
Founded in Kerrville and currently headquartered in San Antonio, H-E-B has been a staple in Texas for over a century. The company celebrated its 120th anniversary this year and operates more than 455 stores across Texas and Mexico. The ongoing expansion efforts are indicative of the growing demand for its services in North Texas, particularly as the population continues to increase.
As H-E-B continues to invest in new locations, the company aims to enhance its ability to meet the needs of local communities. The land acquisitions in Sherman and Flower Mound reflect a strategic approach to growth, ensuring that H-E-B remains a competitive player in the grocery industry.
