d-backs-open-to-major-trades-ahead-of-july-31-deadline

**PHOENIX —** In a stunning announcement from Arizona Diamondbacks General Manager Mike Hazen, the team is actively pursuing trades as the July 31 deadline approaches. Hazen declared, “Any outcome is on the table,” emphasizing that the organization is not looking to simply cut costs but is committed to improving the team’s performance.

The Diamondbacks have already made two significant moves, trading first baseman Josh Naylor to the Seattle Mariners for top pitching prospects Brandyn Garcia and Ashton Izzi. Garcia is expected to join the D-backs bullpen immediately. Additionally, designated hitter Randal Grichuk has been sent to the Kansas City Royals in exchange for right-handed reliever Andrew Hoffmann.

Hazen expressed his frustration with the current team’s performance, stating, “This is not the position I anticipated us being in. It’s not a very comfortable position to be in. Nobody’s happy we’re in this position.”

With the deadline looming, the focus shifts to key players such as starting pitchers Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly, along with third baseman Eugenio Suarez, all of whom are set to become free agents after this season. “I’m open-minded to a number of different things,” Hazen noted, indicating a willingness to listen to offers that could reshape the team’s future.

When asked about younger players under contract, including Ketel Marte and Corbin Carroll, Hazen responded, “The contract guys are definitely taking up the majority of our attention.” He acknowledged that discussions about the younger core have been constant, often leading to inquiries from other teams. “If I say, ‘Depends on what you’re talking about. It would be a haul,’ that usually shuts the conversations down pretty quickly,” he added.

As the Diamondbacks continue to navigate this critical period, fans are left wondering what the next moves will be. With the trade deadline just days away, the organization faces a pivotal moment that could define its trajectory for the rest of the season.

Stay tuned for updates as the situation develops and trades unfold in the coming hours. The urgency is palpable as the Diamondbacks aim to turn around their season and capitalize on new opportunities.
