UPDATE: Memphis guard Sincere Parker had his bail dramatically reduced to $75,000 on Monday, just two days after facing assault charges involving his ex-girlfriend. The decision, made by Shelby County General Sessions Criminal Court Judge Greg Gilbert, slashed Parker’s original bail of $120,000 nearly in half.

Parker’s attorney, Arthur Horne, confirmed that the bond has already been posted. Parker is now scheduled to return to court on July 29, where he is required to maintain a distance of at least 100 feet from his ex-girlfriend. The allegations against him stem from a reported incident on May 27 at their shared Memphis apartment, where the victim stated that Parker pushed, slapped, and choked her, resulting in visible injuries.

In a startling revelation, the victim also claimed Parker, aged 23, destroyed her cellphone to prevent her from accessing the digital key to their apartment. Horne emphasized that the incident was recorded during a video call between Parker and his mother, which he believes will bolster their defense.

“We plan on fighting this,” Horne stated. “This has been a long, ongoing saga between him and the ex-girlfriend. I just hope the public will give us time to sort through it so the whole story comes out because there are two sides to this. Right now, it looks like my client, Mr. Parker, is a woman-abuser, and that’s not the case.”

As the case unfolds, Horne indicated that the Memphis athletic department is monitoring the situation before making any decisions regarding Parker’s status with the team. Parker transferred to Memphis after a successful stint at McNeese, where he averaged 12.2 points per game last season, aiding his team in reaching the second round of the NCAA Tournament. He previously played for Saint Louis.

With this developing story, many are questioning the implications for Parker’s future in college basketball and the potential impact on his career. Stay tuned as we continue to follow the latest updates on this urgent matter.
