UPDATE: Houston Astros’ third baseman Isaac Paredes has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to a right hamstring strain, officials confirmed Sunday. The injury occurred as Paredes sprinted to first base on a single during Saturday night’s dramatic 7-6 loss to the Seattle Mariners in the 11th inning.

Paredes exited the game and was replaced by Zack Short. The 26-year-old has been a significant contributor for the Astros this season, boasting a batting average of .259, along with 19 home runs and 50 RBIs. His absence will be felt as the team fights for playoff positioning.

In a series of roster moves, catcher César Salazar has been optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land. Meanwhile, infielders Shay Whitcomb and Jon Singleton have been recalled from Sugar Land to fill the gap left by Paredes.

Additionally, to accommodate Singleton on the Astros’ 40-man roster, infielder Brendan Rodgers has been transferred to the 60-day injured list. Rodgers, who was on a minor league rehab assignment, suffered a concussion and a broken nose after colliding with a teammate on Friday. He had previously been sidelined since June 15 due to a left oblique strain, with a batting average of .191 and only two homers in 43 games this season.

As the Astros navigate these injuries, fans are left wondering how the team will adapt in the coming days. The stakes are high as they aim to maintain momentum in a tightly contested division. Stay tuned for updates on Paredes’ recovery and the impact on the Astros’ roster.
