Joseph C. Yedlock, aged 94, passed away at his home in Ashley, Pennsylvania, on February 4, 2026. Known for his dedication to family and community, Yedlock left behind a legacy that touched many lives.
Born in Hanover Township, PA, on December 21, 1931, Yedlock was the son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Zugarek) Yedlock. He graduated from Hanover Township High School in 1950, where he excelled in both baseball and football. Following his high school years, he served in the Korean War as a member of the United States Army from 1952 to 1954, attaining the rank of First Sergeant and earning the National Defense Medal.
After his military service, Yedlock worked as an export shipper at Dana Perfume until his retirement. His commitment to community service was evident through his active membership at St. Leo the Great Church in Ashley. He was a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #12089 and participated in numerous church activities, demonstrating his willingness to lend a hand whenever needed.
Family and Community Contributions
Yedlock was also involved with the St. Leo’s Cyrenians and previously served as a member of the American Legion Post #673 in Ashley. He contributed to the Bishop Hoban High School Father’s Club, where he helped with security at sporting events while his children attended the school. His passion for sports extended beyond volunteering, as he played on various championship fast-pitch softball teams during his youth.
Fishing was another of Yedlock’s cherished pastimes, especially enjoyed with friends. He was a devoted fan of several sports teams, including the Dallas Cowboys, Penn State, Notre Dame football, and UConn women’s basketball.
Yedlock was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Constance (Morris) Yedlock, and several family members, including his infant daughter, Linda Marie Yedlock. He is survived by his son, Joseph A. Yedlock (Robin) of Hanover Township, and daughters Deborah Glidden (Randall) of Winter Park, Florida, and Lynn Cole of Ashley. He also leaves behind four granddaughters, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Arrangements and Memorial Contributions
Funeral services for Joseph C. Yedlock will take place on Friday, February 20, 2026, starting at 9:30 a.m. from the George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, located at 105 North Main Street, Ashley. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Leo the Great Parish at 10:00 a.m., with Reverend Vincent Dang officiating. Interment will occur at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hanover Township.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and again on the day of the service from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Yedlock’s memory to the St. Leo the Great Food Pantry.
