Bradley Feick Ward, a beloved figure known for his adventurous spirit and infectious humor, passed away on December 23, 2025, at the age of 64 due to complications related to cancer. His life, marked by a passion for sports, literature, and travel, left an indelible impact on friends and family alike.

Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on July 28, 1961, Brad was the eldest child of Judge Charles Lavon Ward and Laura Cheek Ward. Growing up on Castle Harbor Isle, he cherished his childhood days spent fishing, biking, and exploring the outdoors with his siblings. His early years laid the foundation for a life characterized by camaraderie and joy.

A Passion for Sports and Humor

Brad’s teenage years were filled with sports, where he excelled in tennis, baseball, football, and basketball. Notably, he was recognized as the 1979 Miami Herald Player of the Year in baseball, showcasing his talent and dedication. Known for his quick wit, Brad often brought laughter to those around him, a trait he maintained throughout his life.

After graduating from high school, Brad’s path took a significant turn. Following a series of conversations with his father, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1982 to 1986. His time in the Marines, which included assignments in the Philippines and Japan, shaped his character and instilled in him the principles of honor, courage, and commitment. He recalled, “Private Ward thinks everything is funny,” a testament to his enduring sense of humor even in challenging circumstances.

Academic Pursuits and Professional Life

After his military service, Brad pursued higher education, enrolling at Florida State University. He graduated with a degree in English in 1993, where he discovered a profound love for reading and writing. His extensive collection of books reflected his diverse interests, spanning theology, self-help, fiction, and sports.

Despite spending most of his career in real estate and mortgage banking, Brad viewed work primarily as a means to enjoy his true passions. He found joy in cooking, swimming, and spending quality time with friends and family, embodying a positive and humble outlook on life.

In 2022, Brad faced a daunting challenge when diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma. Nevertheless, he approached his illness with resilience and gratitude, seizing opportunities to travel across the United States and internationally. His adventures took him to Colombia, Argentina, Canada, Costa Rica, Portugal, Morocco, and various countries in Southeast Asia. Notably, he climbed Mt. Fuji for the second time, a journey he first undertook as a Marine.

Brad’s most cherished relationship was with his son, Blake James Ward. He leaves behind a legacy of love and inspiration, remembered fondly by friends and family for his unwavering spirit and zest for life. He is survived by Blake, his sister Amy Ward Kirschbaum, his brother Charles Andrew Ward, brother-in-law Charles Kirschbaum, nephew Ward Kirschbaum, and niece Anne Kirschbaum.

Celebration of Life and Legacy

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for May 9, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Calvary Chapel located at 2401 W. Cypress Creek Blvd, Fort Lauderdale. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to ReefBoyz or the Salvation Army of Broward County to honor Brad’s memory.
