Polk County has appointed Shaun Jenne as the new head coach of its men’s tennis program, a decision announced by athletic director Michelle Fagan. Jenne’s lifelong passion for tennis and strong ties to the local tennis community position him as an ideal choice for this role.

Jenne’s journey in tennis began in 1995 when he started playing alongside his wife, Angela Jenne. Angela, a former standout player for the Wolverines under coach Jim Click, will also join the coaching staff as an assistant coach. Together, they have cultivated a rich legacy in the sport, not only competing but also nurturing talent within their family. Their son Ryan played for Methodist University, while their daughter Hannah clinched a 1A doubles state championship for the Wolverines. Additionally, three of their other children continue to represent Polk County on the tennis courts.

“I am honored to be awarded this position,” Jenne stated. “I look forward to working cooperatively with Athletic Director Michelle Fagan and women’s head coach Tracy Becker to make Polk County Wolverine tennis the best it can be.” Becker will maintain her leadership of the women’s program, ensuring continuity and collaboration across both teams.

Jenne’s appointment reflects a commitment to building upon the strong foundation of the Polk County tennis tradition. His extensive experience and family background in the sport are expected to foster an environment of growth and excellence for both the men’s and women’s teams.

With a focus on cultivating young talent, Jenne aims to enhance the program’s competitive edge. The support from the community and school administration will be vital as they embark on this new chapter. As the season approaches, both players and fans eagerly anticipate the fresh energy and vision Jenne will bring to the court.

The Polk County tennis program is poised for a promising future under Jenne’s guidance, with hopes of achieving greater success in upcoming competitions.
