In a significant display of community support, Dignity Health North State announced that its St. Elizabeth Community Hospital helped 72 seniors in the Red Bluff area through its “Adopt a Senior” program during the recent holiday season. This initiative aims to provide gifts to local seniors who might otherwise go without during the holidays, ensuring that they feel remembered and valued.

According to the local Dignity Health Connected Living website, the “Adopt a Senior” program plays a crucial role in addressing the needs of vulnerable populations in the community. In addition to this initiative, the hospital’s emergency department actively contributed to the California Highway Patrol’s “Chips for Kids” toy drive, collecting toys for children in Tehama County. These efforts extended to the Corning School District, where the hospital gathered toys aimed at assisting at-risk and homeless children.

Comprehensive Community Assistance

Beyond these initiatives, St. Elizabeth Community Hospital’s quality team undertook a special project, adopting a single mother and her five children. This effort included providing $800 in gift cards, new wardrobes, makeup, and toys, highlighting the hospital’s commitment to addressing immediate needs in the community.

The impact of Dignity Health’s outreach was further underscored by the Connected Living program, which provided food assistance to approximately 800 individuals in December 2023. This service became increasingly important following the funding freezes to supplemental nutrition assistance programs, ensuring that those in need received essential support.

Commitment to Community Values

Rodger Page, the North State Market President for Dignity Health, emphasized the intrinsic motivation behind such local giving projects. “Supporting our local communities is at the heart of everything we do,” Page stated. “Our employees don’t just work here – they live here, raise their families here, and embody our mission of spreading humankindness every day.”

Page also noted that the dedication displayed by employees in both patient care and community service serves as an inspiration, motivating ongoing outreach and support programs as they look ahead to the new year. The combined efforts of St. Elizabeth Community Hospital and its staff reflect a deep commitment to enhancing the lives of those within their community, especially during the holiday season.
