The Ataris are preparing to release their first new album in 19 years, marking a significant return for the pop-punk band. According to bassist Mike Davenport, the album is already completed, with a planned release between March and April 2026. This highly anticipated record will feature the single “Car Song,” which was released in May.

Davenport expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming project, stating, “I am really excited about it! We are anxious to get the full record out and for you all to hear it.” He emphasized the emotional investment made by lead singer and guitarist Kristopher “Kris” Roe, who has dedicated himself fully to this album. “It has been a long time and before he was trying to handle too much, and so by getting us all back, he can focus on what’s truly important,” Davenport explained.

30 Years of The Ataris: A New Chapter

As the band celebrates its 30th anniversary since its formation in 1996, Davenport reflected on the journey they have taken, noting the two lengthy hiatuses the group has experienced. The impact of the Covid pandemic has rejuvenated the band, with Davenport stating, “Covid was a reset—the band came back from that on a mission which we haven’t been on since we were kids.” He highlighted their renewed focus on creating new music and delivering outstanding performances on stage.

Davenport shared his admiration for Roe’s vocal performance, noting that many of their friends who attended recent shows remarked on how much stronger Roe’s voice has become over the years. “Some people lose their voice over the years, but his voice has gotten better,” he stated. This commitment to artistry is evident in the new material, which fans can anticipate with excitement.

The Ataris gained popularity during the MySpace and Warped Tour era, releasing five albums from 1997 to 2007. Their discography includes iconic tracks such as “In This Diary,” “San Dimas High School Football Rules,” and a cover of Don Henley’s “The Boys of Summer.” Over the past decade, the band has continued to engage with fans through various releases, including demos and live recordings.

In 2026, The Ataris have planned more than a dozen tour dates, following the cancellation of two December concerts in Buffalo and Syracuse due to Roe’s back injury. Fans eager to see the band perform can find tickets available on platforms like StubHub and Seat Geek.

As The Ataris prepare to unveil their new album, the excitement surrounding their return to music and live performances is palpable, promising a fresh chapter for the band and its dedicated fanbase.
