In a performance reminiscent of the famed “Splash Brothers,” senior guards Damarion Moss and Dawson VonRuden combined for 43 points, including 10 three-pointers, propelling their team to a commanding win at Lakeshirts Fieldhouse.
The Lakers had faced Rocori in a closely contested series last season, winning by a narrow margin of five points across two games. This time, however, the narrative changed dramatically as Detroit Lakes established control early. Coach Brett Maass highlighted the impact of his team’s pace and pressure, particularly in the second half when they surged ahead to a 20-point lead. “Our pace and pressure got to them a little bit at the start of that second half,” Maass noted. “I think we went on a little run to go up 18, 19, or 20.”
Throughout the game, Detroit Lakes maintained a relentless offensive strategy. Moss opened the scoring with a three-pointer, marking the beginning of a strong performance that would see him finish the night with a game-high 25 points.
