UPDATE: Riot Games has just completed an urgent ethics and conduct training session for 150 players and coaches participating in the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK). This crucial program took place on January 2, 2026, at the LCK Arena in Seoul, just days before the highly anticipated LCK Cup.

The training, part of Riot’s commitment to upholding integrity standards, focused on essential topics including competitive operations, updated rules, and the responsibilities of athletes. This initiative is pivotal as it prepares teams for the upcoming season, ensuring all participants are aligned with new regulations and ethical guidelines.

During the four-hour session, attendees received critical updates on format changes for the 2026 season and new competitive rules. The program also introduced “Coach Comms,” which will be implemented during the LCK Cup group stage, enhancing communication protocols between coaching staff and players.

The event’s agenda included a segment led by the Korea Anti-Doping Agency, emphasizing anti-doping measures in preparation for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. This training covered testing procedures, prohibited substances, and player rights, reinforcing the league’s commitment to fair play.

Attendees were divided into tracks by experience level. First-year players learned about standard contracts from attorney Ahn Chan-sik, who provided essential insights into contract structures and dispute resolution. Meanwhile, veteran players engaged in a sportsmanship seminar led by Kim Jin-hoon from the Sports Ethics Center, focusing on respect for teammates, opponents, and adherence to competition rules.

As one of the six major regional League of Legends esports leagues worldwide, the LCK operates under a single-season format, running from April to September with ten teams. LCK teams also compete in prestigious international events, including the Mid-Season Invitational and the League of Legends World Championship.

Riot Games emphasizes that this education initiative is integral to fostering a professional atmosphere in esports, aligning players and staff with evolving standards. The league is set to kick off its 2026 Season Opening Event on January 9, 2026, at the LCK Arena, marking the start of an exciting new competitive year.

Stay tuned for further updates as the LCK prepares for a thrilling season ahead, with enhanced integrity measures and a commitment to ethical play.
