utah-cornerback-smith-snowden-plans-transfer-portal-move

Utah cornerback Smith Snowden is set to enter the transfer portal, marking a significant decision for the Utes as they navigate the upcoming college football landscape. This announcement was first reported by Blair Angulo of 247Sports. Snowden’s decision comes shortly after the transfer portal officially opened on November 10, 2023, which has already seen other players, including defensive end John Henry Daley, make similar moves.

Snowden, who was the 2022 Deseret News Mr. Football winner, has spent three seasons at Utah. He emerged as the team’s starting nickelback for the 2024 season. During the early part of this season, he showcased versatility by contributing to the offense, accumulating a total of 57 receiving yards and 40 rushing yards along with a touchdown. However, he shifted his focus solely to defense for the remainder of the campaign.

In the 2025 season, Snowden made his mark on the defensive side, recording 37 tackles, two interceptions, and nine breakups. His performance earned him a grade of 65.9 from Pro Football Focus, reflecting his impact on the field.

Should Snowden finalize his exit from Utah, the Utes will face a considerable challenge in replacing two of their three starting cornerbacks. With Blake Cotton set to graduate this spring, the team’s depth in the secondary will be further tested. As the transfer portal continues to evolve, Snowden’s decision will undoubtedly influence both his future and the Utah program moving forward.
