The past year has seen Maccabi GB make significant strides in fostering community engagement, promoting Jewish pride, and addressing pressing social issues. With a focus on sport, education, and leadership, the organization has united Jewish individuals across Britain, demonstrating resilience and a commitment to shared values. These efforts have been particularly vital in a year marked by challenges for the Jewish community.

Sport as a Catalyst for Community Engagement

In 2025, Maccabi GB reaffirmed its dedication to creating a vibrant Jewish identity through sports. The organization successfully delivered one of its largest inter-school sports programs, engaging over 6,000 children in various competitions, including football, netball, and multi-sport tournaments. These experiences not only foster teamwork and confidence but also instill a sense of Jewish pride among young participants.

Beyond schools, Maccabi GB expanded its grassroots and community sports initiatives. New activities such as pickleball, padel, and 3×3 basketball provided diverse opportunities for participation, making sports accessible to a broader demographic. The Community Fun Run attracted thousands and supported 99 charities, showcasing one of the largest Jewish communal gatherings in the UK.

On an international scale, Maccabi GB athletes prepared to represent their community at the upcoming Maccabiah Games in Israel. Following a forced postponement, Team Maccabi GB is set to demonstrate not only athletic prowess but also the values of responsibility, respect, and connection to Jewish life.

Addressing Antisemitism Through Education and Action

Amid rising antisemitism and increasing challenges for Jewish communities, Maccabi GB has taken a proactive stance. Through its Tackling Antisemitism in Sport program, the organization collaborates with grassroots and professional sports entities to raise awareness and foster appropriate responses to antisemitism. This culminated in the Tackling Antisemitism in Sport Symposium, which gathered over 120 leaders from various sectors to reinforce a collective commitment to inclusion.

The Streetwise programme, delivered to over 23,000 young people, addresses contemporary antisemitism and personal safety. By providing workshops that include practical safety training, the program empowers youth to navigate challenges safely and confidently. In addition, the Stand Up! Education Against Discrimination initiative reached more than 17,500 young individuals from different backgrounds, working to combat prejudice and foster understanding.

Initiatives such as the Chanukah Torch Relay further exemplify Maccabi GB’s commitment to celebrating Jewish life. This event brought light and joy to Jewish spaces across the country, engaging with over 3,000 primary school children and reinforcing the importance of community togetherness even amidst difficulties.

Maccabi GB’s impact is rooted in partnership and collaboration. The dedication of its professional team, trustees, and volunteers has been instrumental in transforming vision into reality. The organization acknowledges that its accomplishments are a collective effort, reflecting the strong foundation built on cooperation and shared purpose.

Looking ahead, Maccabi GB is poised to continue its mission of strengthening Jewish life and supporting the community. The past year has demonstrated the power of unity and action, and with a clear strategy and committed community, the organization aims to achieve even greater milestones in the coming year.

As the Chair of Maccabi GB, the sense of pride in what has been accomplished is palpable. The commitment to a healthy, active, and proud Jewish community integrated within British society remains at the forefront of Maccabi GB’s objectives.
