manchester-hospital-limits-pediatric-visitors-due-to-illness-spike

Regional Medical Center in Manchester, Iowa, has implemented restrictions on pediatric visitors in response to an increase in respiratory illnesses. Effective from Friday, children under the age of 14 are prohibited from visiting patients at the hospital. This decision aims to safeguard the health of patients and staff, as hospitalizations due to respiratory conditions have risen significantly.

The hospital announced the new visitor policy on its website, emphasizing that the only exception applies to its OB Department. In this area, immediate siblings may visit their new sibling provided they are feeling well. This exception reflects the hospital’s commitment to family connections while prioritizing health and safety.

In addition to visitor restrictions, the hospital strongly encourages all visitors and guests to wear masks while inside the facility. The announcement stated, “By restricting visitors and encouraging masking, the goal is to prevent unnecessary illness from being brought into the hospital.” This proactive measure aims to mitigate the spread of illness and protect vulnerable patients.

Updates regarding visitor guidelines will be available on the hospital’s website at regmedctr.org/visit. The community is urged to stay informed as conditions change and to adhere to the new policies to ensure a safe environment for all.
