Running back Waymond Jordan has confirmed his return to the University of Southern California (USC) for his senior season, opting against entering the NFL Draft. In a video shared on social media, Jordan expressed his motivation to continue building on the team’s potential, stating, “I’m coming back for another year because I feel like we left a lot of things on the table. We’re coming back for everything and we’ve got a great thing building here in LA.”
Jordan, who transferred from Hutchinson Community College, had a strong showing in the previous season, rushing for 576 yards and scoring five touchdowns on 88 carries. Unfortunately, his season was cut short as he missed the final six games due to injury, but his return is expected to strengthen the Trojans’ offense significantly.
With the departure of Eli Sanders, who has exhausted his eligibility, Jordan’s role as the primary ball-carrier is likely solidified. Reports indicate that both Bryan Jackson and Harry Dalton III are also planning to enter the transfer portal, leaving a notable gap in the team’s rushing attack. Despite these changes, USC will see the return of players like King Miller and Riley Wormley, adding depth to the squad.
USC’s Future Prospects
As the Trojans prepare for the upcoming season, key decisions loom regarding other players. Quarterback Jayden Maiava, receiver Ja’Kobi Lane, and Makai Lemon, who recently won the prestigious Biletnikoff Award, have yet to announce their intentions regarding the NFL Draft. Their decisions will play a vital role in shaping USC’s strategy moving forward.
Jordan’s commitment to return is part of a broader effort by USC to build a competitive team for the next season. The Trojans have recently signed a highly regarded recruiting class, emphasizing local talent and aiming to regain their stature in college football.
As the team gears up for training and preparations, fans will be watching closely to see how these developments unfold. Jordan’s return is seen as a crucial element in revitalizing the Trojans’ pursuit of success on the field.
