Crestwood High School showcased a commanding performance on Thursday night, claiming a decisive 76-31 victory over Williamsport in a nonleague girls basketball match. The Comets ignited their offense early, scoring 24 points in the first quarter, followed by an impressive 31-point surge in the fourth quarter.
Jackie Gallagher led the way for Crestwood, contributing 26 points, with 24 of those coming in the first half. Other notable performances included Jordan Andrews with 12 points and Keira Dougherty, who added 16 points. Crestwood’s offense was efficient, tallying 32 field goals during the game, including six successful 3-pointers.
Other Noteworthy Games
In another nonleague matchup, Wyoming Seminary triumphed over Mid Valley with a score of 48-18. Ella Stambaugh was instrumental in the Blue Knights’ success, scoring 26 points, including 13 points in the final quarter. Wyoming Seminary also excelled at the free-throw line, hitting 13 of 16 attempts.
Dallas secured a 65-34 victory against Mountain View, with Mia DelGaudio and Odessa Kanton each scoring 13 points. Caitlyn Mizzer added 11 points as Dallas continued its strong start to the season with a record of 4-0. Addison Kilmer led Mountain View with 14 points.
Lakeland overcame a rocky start to defeat Tunkhannock 41-30, with Naomi Rude scoring 11 points. Despite being scoreless in the first quarter, the Lady Chiefs rallied, while Elizabeth Moore led Tunkhannock with 9 points.
In a closely contested game, Wyoming Area edged out Wilkes-Barre Area 33-28. Tied at 24 points after three quarters, Jailynn Park’s layup and free throw in the final two minutes sealed the win for the Warriors. Park finished with 15 points, while Jaida Underwood led the Wolfpack with 15 points as well.
Northwest secured a comfortable 55-36 win against Benton, led by Ava Ruckle, who scored 20 points.
Boys Basketball Highlights
In boys basketball, West Philadelphia defeated Dallas 68-58, overcoming an early deficit. Khabir Washington led the Speedboys with 16 points, while Kael Berry topped Dallas with 20 points, marking the first loss of the season for the Mountaineers.
Williamsport narrowly defeated Crestwood 54-53 in overtime, with Ethan Chilson contributing crucial points in the extra period. Ayden Agapito was Crestwood’s standout player, scoring 20 points.
North Pocono also recorded a close victory against Pittston Area, finishing 49-45. Cole West led North Pocono with 15 points, while Jacob Ivey and Brennan Callahan each scored 13 points for Pittston Area.
In wrestling, Dallas claimed a 30-23 victory over Lake-Lehman, securing six wins during the match. Aiden Hilburt, Bobby Booth, and William Moran were among the victors for Dallas.
