Netflix is poised to remove five prominent superhero films from its streaming platform in January 2026, as the service continues to refresh its catalog. This decision comes amid an influx of new superhero content, necessitating the removal of older titles to make way for fresh offerings.
Key Superhero Titles Leaving the Platform
Among the films departing Netflix are major titles from both DC and Marvel, including Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and Blue Beetle. According to a report by What’s On Netflix, this shift will also see the exit of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, Hulk, and Kick-Ass 2.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, featuring Jason Momoa, was released in 2023 as part of the now-defunct DCEU. Despite the anticipation surrounding its launch, the film underperformed at the box office, grossing only $440 million globally, according to Box Office Mojo. This marked a significant decline compared to its predecessor, which had achieved greater critical and commercial success.
Blue Beetle, another recent addition to the DC lineup, will also leave Netflix. Starring Xolo Maridueña, this film introduced a new hero to audiences, but it will soon be unavailable for streaming.
Marvel and Other Titles Departing
On the Marvel side, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance and Hulk are set to exit the platform.
