Roman Misorek, an esteemed member of the Duryea community, passed away on November 23, 2025, at the age of 80 in his home. His contributions to both his family and community have left a lasting impact on those who knew him. Born in Old Forge, he was the son of the late John and Tessie Zaloga Misorek.

Mr. Misorek was a proud graduate of Scranton Prep and the University of Scranton, with additional studies at the University of Florida. His career with the Department of Corrections showcased his commitment to public service. A devoted member of the Nativity of Our Lord Parish in Duryea, he was known for his involvement in various community activities, including his earlier membership in the Duryea Lions Club.

In his personal life, Mr. Misorek enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Eagles and was a self-taught computer enthusiast. He is survived by his wife, Karen Smith, with whom he celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary on July 16 this year. He is also remembered fondly by his nieces and nephews, as well as by the friends and community members whose lives he touched.

Funeral Arrangements and Lasting Legacy

Funeral services for Mr. Misorek will take place on Saturday, November 29, 2025. The gathering will begin at 9:00 AM from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., located at 204 Main Street, Duryea. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 9:30 AM at the Nativity of Our Lord Parish, with interment to follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Duryea. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during a viewing on the evening of November 28 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
