Ann Marie Montagino, an esteemed educator and cherished family member, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025, at the age of 81 in Rotterdam, New York. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Walter and Sophie Schultz Dombroski. Montagino’s contributions to education and her dedication to her family will be fondly remembered by many.

Montagino pursued her higher education at Mansfield State University, where she developed a passion for teaching. Upon completing her studies, she took on the role of a fifth-grade teacher at Schoharie Elementary School. It was here that she formed a lasting friendship with fellow educator Marjorie Cummings, with whom she taught alongside for many years.

Throughout her life, Montagino found immense joy in her role as a grandmother. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren, Michaela and Joseph Montagino, who brought her great happiness. Family was at the heart of her life, and she is survived by her son Charles J. Montagino and his wife Ericka, as well as her three brothers: John Dombroski (Barbara), Gerard Dombroski, and Thomas Dombroski (Deborah). She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Montagino was predeceased by her husband, Charles Montagino, who passed away on February 22, 2025, and her brother Walter J. Dombroski. The loss of her presence will be deeply felt by her family and friends.

A calling hour for family and friends will take place on November 21, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, located at 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam. A prayer service will follow at noon, with entombment at Sts. Cyril & Method Cemetery in Rotterdam.
