TikTok has announced a new feature allowing users to manage the visibility of AI-generated content within their video feeds. The platform aims to enhance user experience by introducing an AI slider, which will enable individuals to adjust the amount of AI content they encounter on the app.
This feature will be integrated within TikTok’s existing “Manage topics” section, which currently lets users control the visibility of content across various categories such as dance, current affairs, and fitness. With the AI slider, users will have the option to request either more or less AI material, providing two levels of adjustment in either direction.
Enhanced Detection Measures
For this control to function effectively, TikTok is also focusing on improving its detection capabilities to identify which content is AI-generated. The company plans to implement invisible watermarks on content produced through its own tools, including AI Editor Pro. This initiative comes in response to the common practice of users removing visible watermarks from AI-generated videos.
Moreover, TikTok will utilize the C2PA Content Credentials, an industry-wide authentication standard, to help identify and label AI-generated content. While this standard has shown some limitations, TikTok is committed to enhancing the reliability of its AI detection methods.
Future Rollout Plans
According to TikTok, these updates are set to roll out over the coming weeks. At this stage, the AI content control remains in a testing phase, indicating that user feedback may influence its final implementation.
As TikTok continues to evolve and adapt to user preferences, the introduction of these controls reflects a growing awareness of how AI technologies are reshaping content consumption. The move is part of a broader trend across digital platforms to balance innovation with user agency, ensuring that individuals have greater control over their online experiences.
