brooks-nader-opens-up-about-weight-loss-drug-use-and-its-impact

Brooks Nader, the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model, has candidly shared her experiences with weight loss drugs, specifically Ozempic and other GLP-1 medications. In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, she discussed the significant weight loss she achieved and the side effects she encountered while using these drugs.

In August 2025, Nader expressed her frustration with the culture surrounding weight loss at social events. She noted, “I’m sick of being at cocktail parties or fashion events where someone knew six months prior had lost a random 80 pounds.” Nader highlighted the dishonesty often present in such conversations, stating, “I had a weight loss, and why lie? So I was like, ‘I’m on Ozempic!’” Her remarks reflect a desire for transparency regarding weight loss journeys.

Struggles and Side Effects

Nader’s candidness extends beyond her motivations for using weight loss drugs. On her reality show Love Thy Nader, she opened up about the side effects of GLP-1 medications, revealing that many fans reached out to share their own experiences. “I had so many people reach out to me, saying, ‘I’m also addicted to GLP-1. I’m ashamed to talk about it because there’s such a stigma around it. It’s a crutch for me,’” she told Bustle in November 2025. Nader acknowledged her ongoing use of the medication, admitting, “It’s not healthy. I should get off it; I’ll be honest about that.”

Further reflecting on her career, Nader shared an anecdote about receiving feedback from clients regarding her weight. “If I didn’t get a job, I would say to the team, ‘Can we get feedback from the client?’” she recalled. The direct feedback often indicated that she needed to lose weight, but rather than feeling disheartened, she approached it as a challenge: “How can I achieve that?” She emphasized that her journey to lose 30 pounds resulted in more job opportunities.

A Supportive Intervention

Nader’s sisters—Grace Ann Nader, Mary Holland Nader, and Sarah Jane Nader—expressed concern for her well-being and staged an intervention during the filming of Love Thy Nader. After booking a cover shoot with Maxim Magazine, Nader increased her dosage of GLP-1 to enhance her appearance, which led to severe side effects. She described feeling nauseous, struggling to stay awake, and nearly fainting in a workout class. Upon discovering the number of GLP-1 supplies Nader had accumulated, her sisters decided it was time to intervene.

In a confessional, Nader remarked, “I know my sisters are coming from a place of love. I just find that you don’t know until you’re in that position how to handle it.” While she acknowledged potentially having an unhealthy relationship with weight and food due to her career, she distinguished that she does not consider herself to have an eating disorder.

Nader’s openness about her experiences highlights the pressures faced by individuals in the modeling industry and the complexities surrounding weight loss medications. As she continues to navigate her journey, her story resonates with many who may face similar challenges in pursuit of health and acceptance.
