At just 20 years old, Reeves drove to Los Angeles from Toronto, Canada, eager to pursue his acting aspirations. “I got paid when I was like 16, so I was a professional actor around 16, 17,” he noted. Shortly after his arrival, his manager presented the idea of adopting a stage name, which left Reeves contemplating his identity in the entertainment industry.
Exploring Stage Names
The actor recounted the humorous process of trying to find an acceptable stage name. Initially, he considered the name Chuck Spadina, combining his middle name, Charles, with the Toronto street where he grew up. However, this name did not resonate with him for long. He then briefly entertained the name Templeton before ultimately landing on KC Reeves.
“I was credited as KC Reeves,” he explained, “but I couldn’t do it. I would be in auditions, and they would call out ‘KC Reeves,’ and I wouldn’t even answer.” After six months of discomfort, Reeves decided to embrace his birth name, a decision that would define his storied career.
