UPDATE: More than 44,000 NordicTrack RW900 rowing machines are being urgently recalled due to a serious overheating issue that can lead to fire. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on October 16, 2025, after receiving reports of eight incidents involving the machines, including two fires.

The recall affects rowing machines sold between 2018 and 2022, all of which have the model number NTRW19147.0 through NTRW19147.3. These machines were sold online and in major retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, and Dick’s Sporting Goods. Customers are urged to check for the model number on a sticker near the machine’s base.

The safety concerns stem from the screen console, which has been reported to overheat, emit smoke, or even ignite. To date, the incidents have caused over $6,000 in property damage, though thankfully, there have been no reported injuries.

In response to this alarming situation, NordicTrack, owned by iFIT Inc., is offering free repairs, but only through their trained technicians. Customers are required to contact NordicTrack directly at 833-680-4348 or visit their website to schedule a service. DIY repairs are not permitted, leaving many users frustrated.

This isn’t the first time NordicTrack has faced issues with malfunctioning products. In 2024, the company recalled smart dumbbells that malfunctioned, failing to recognize voice commands. This history raises questions about the reliability of their equipment and customer safety.

As the recall unfolds, affected users are encouraged to act quickly to avoid potential hazards. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story and ensure your NordicTrack rowing machine is safe to use.

For those impacted, this recall serves as a reminder of the importance of product safety and consumer vigilance. Spread the word to friends and family who may own these machines to prevent any dangerous incidents.
