The U.S. Golf Association (USGA) has officially announced that the 2030 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship will take place at Colorado Golf Club in Parker, Colorado. This prestigious event will mark the second time the course has hosted a USGA championship, following the successful 2019 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship.

Colorado has become a notable destination for major golf tournaments in recent years. The 2023 U.S. Amateur Championship took place at Cherry Hills Golf Club, co-hosted by Colorado Golf Club. Additionally, the U.S. Girls’ Junior was held at Eisenhower Golf Club at the U.S. Air Force Academy near Colorado Springs that same year. The state is also set to welcome the 2024 BMW Championship, marking its first PGA Tour event since 2014, to be held at Castle Pines Golf Club. Earlier this year, The Broadmoor Golf Club hosted the U.S. Senior Open Championship.

Opened in 2006, Colorado Golf Club has developed a reputation as a premier golf destination. Designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, the course was formerly an Arabian horse ranch. It has already hosted significant events, including the 2010 Senior PGA Championship and the 2013 Solheim Cup, along with various state and regional tournaments.

The U.S. Junior Amateur Championship is open to amateur golfers aged 19 years or younger with a handicap not exceeding 2.4. The competition will feature a field of 264 golfers, which will be narrowed down to the top 64 scorers for match play. Participants will compete in five 18-hole rounds, culminating in a 36-hole championship match.

In a statement, Graham Cliff, the director of golf at Colorado Golf Club, expressed pride in hosting the championship. “Colorado Golf Club is a strategic and demanding championship venue,” he said. “With an emphasis on the future generation of professional golfers, the Junior Amateur is meaningful to our members and to golf enthusiasts everywhere. When you look at the past winners of this event, it is clear to see that these competitors are the future of professional golf. We are thrilled to host in 2030.”

The U.S. Junior Amateur Championship has seen a host of notable winners in its history, including golf legends such as Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth, Tiger Woods, and David Duval. With its rich history and commitment to nurturing young talent, the upcoming championship at Colorado Golf Club is expected to attract significant attention from both participants and spectators alike.
