
Emma E. Nevin, affectionately known as Betty, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, at the age of 98. Surrounded by her devoted family, she transitioned into eternal life in Mountain Top, Pennsylvania. Her passing marks a significant loss for those who knew her, as she was a cherished figure within her community.
Born in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, on March 15, 1927, Betty was the daughter of the late William Kresge and Erma (Keiner) Kresge Richards. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Clyde Nevin, who passed away in 1982 after 35 years of marriage.
Betty was deeply involved in her local church, serving as a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She cherished the friendships formed through her active participation in its various ministries, highlighting her commitment to community service. Her legacy as a community leader extended to her role within the Order of Eastern Star, where she dedicated 65 years of service. Betty held several positions, including Worthy Matron, District Deputy Grand Matron, and Appointed Grand Chapter Committee Member for Wyoming Chapter #1.
Professionally, Betty worked for many years at Eberhard Faber, a well-known stationery manufacturer. After retiring, she continued to serve her community by volunteering at the Veterans Administration Hospital and Allied Services, demonstrating her unwavering dedication to helping others. In addition to her community involvement, Betty was a talented seamstress and crafter, often sharing her skills with family and friends.
Betty is survived by her three children: William, Elizabeth (married to James), and Raymond (married to Cheryl). She derived immense joy from her beloved granddaughter, Sarah, who brought light to her life.
In honor of her memory, memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, located at 316 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top, PA 18707. Services will be held privately at the family’s convenience, under the direction of McCune Funeral Service in Mountain Top.
