giants-posey-confirms-bochy-not-considered-for-manager-role

UPDATE: San Francisco Giants President of Baseball Operations Buster Posey has just confirmed that former manager Bruce Bochy will not be considered for the vacant managerial position. During a press conference at Oracle Park on Wednesday, Posey stated, “I don’t see us going that route with Boch,” despite suggesting that there may be a role for him within the organization.

Posey’s comments come just days after he spoke with Bochy, who recently left the Texas Rangers after leading them to their first World Series championship in 2023. The Giants are seeking a new direction after firing Bob Melvin on Monday, following a disappointing season that ended with an 81-81 record and a fourth consecutive missed playoff opportunity.

As the Giants look to revamp their leadership, Posey emphasized the need for a manager who can provide stability and long-term success. “We had a pretty consistent stretch of not playing good baseball,” Posey noted, highlighting the organization’s desire to return to being competitive. Although he did not disclose details about the ongoing interview process, he confirmed that discussions are taking place this week.

Under Bochy, the Giants celebrated World Series victories in 2010, 2012, and 2014, establishing a legacy that resonates strongly with fans. However, Posey is set on finding a new voice to lead the team back to glory. “There are a lot of good things in place, but ultimately we did not achieve our goal this year,” he added.

Moving forward, Posey remains committed to his role and the future of the organization. “I’m fully committed, but I think the focus has to be on the present,” the 38-year-old stated, reflecting the urgency to make impactful changes.

The Giants are now in a critical phase of their rebuild, and fans are eagerly awaiting the announcement of their next manager. Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops.
