Cyberhaven has announced the launch of its first-ever Data Defense Forum, scheduled for September 24, 2025. This virtual event aims to equip organizations with the necessary strategies to protect their data amidst the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. With increasing integration of AI across various industries, the need for robust data security measures has become imperative.
The forum will gather a host of cybersecurity experts to discuss the significant risks associated with AI use in business environments. According to recent research from Cyberhaven Labs, nearly 75% of AI applications currently in use pose high or critical risks. Alarmingly, only 16% of enterprise data sent to AI applications is transferred to enterprise-ready platforms, while the majority is directed to personal or unverified tools.
The widespread implementation of AI is no longer confined to technology companies; it is becoming pervasive in sectors such as retail, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, financial services, and manufacturing. Cyberhaven’s findings indicate that just over a third of the data sent to AI tools over the past year consisted of sensitive corporate information, including customer records and proprietary insights. This phenomenon, often referred to as “Shadow AI,” poses serious security challenges; with 23% of AI applications rated as critical risk and 50% categorized as high risk, the potential for security breaches is significant.
To address these pressing concerns, the Data Defense Forum will feature presentations from prominent cybersecurity leaders. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from experts such as Clayton Smith, Principal Security Specialist at AWS, who has over 20 years of experience in cloud and network security. Other speakers include Rinki Sethi, Chief Security Officer at Upwind, known for her work with major companies like Twitter and Walmart; Nic Acton, Senior Solutions Engineer at Wiz, who specializes in AI and cloud strategies; and Payman Armin, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer at Xperi, who has extensive experience in technology leadership.
Additionally, Joe Sullivan, former Chief Security Officer at Facebook and Uber, will share insights on security strategy and organizational risk management. Cyberhaven’s CEO, Nishant Doshi, emphasized the forum’s goal: “Our aim is for attendees to leave the Data Defense Forum with actionable lessons they can immediately apply to strengthen their data security and tackle emerging challenges in the AI era.”
Registration for the Data Defense Forum is free and open to all interested participants. More information is available on Cyberhaven’s website.
