Hennepin Health recently recognized three healthcare providers for their significant contributions to Medicaid and MinnesotaCare recipients in Hennepin County. The ceremony took place on September 17, 2023, at the health plan’s headquarters in Minneapolis, where awards were presented for advancements in access to care, reduction of health disparities, and building community trust.
One of the honorees, Children’s Dental Services, received accolades for its bi-monthly dental care offerings in downtown Minneapolis, which have been available since 2024. This initiative has provided a convenient and trusted option for residents, aligning with Hennepin Health’s efforts to increase dental care utilization among those enrolled in Medicaid and MinnesotaCare. According to the organization, accessing dental services remains a critical challenge for many in these programs.
Dr. Paul Olin, who has played a pivotal role in this effort, was recognized for facilitating over 5% of dental visits among members through his work with students at the University of Minnesota. His collaboration has not only enhanced dental care access but also provided practical learning experiences for future dental professionals.
At the award presentation, Dr. Krishnan Subrahmanian, Chief Medical Officer of Hennepin Health, emphasized the transformative influence of these providers on patient experiences. “Our providers radically shape the way people experience and view health care,” he stated, highlighting the importance of their work in the community.
Everyday Miracles was another key recipient, recognized for its comprehensive medical care services that have facilitated nearly 600 visits across a spectrum of prenatal and postpartum care. Their contributions have significantly benefitted the health of mothers and infants in the area.
Mike Herzing, Chief Executive Officer of Hennepin Health, praised the honored providers for exemplifying community partnership. “These providers are transforming lives in Hennepin County, and we’re thrilled to recognize their impact,” he said, reiterating the collective mission to improve health outcomes in the region.
The award ceremony served not only as a celebration of individual achievements but also highlighted the progress being made in addressing healthcare disparities, particularly for underserved populations. Sadiya Khan, who accepted the award on behalf of Children’s Dental Services, reflected on her organization’s commitment to enhancing health outcomes for children across Hennepin County.
As healthcare providers continue to innovate and collaborate, Hennepin Health’s recognition of these exceptional contributions underscores the ongoing efforts to ensure equitable access to vital services in the community. The event marked a significant step forward in building community trust and improving health outcomes for those who need it most.
