Pierre Gasly has secured his future with Alpine by signing a contract extension that will keep him with the team until at least the end of the 2028 Formula 1 season. Originally joining Alpine in 2023, Gasly’s previous agreement was set to expire in 2026, but he has now committed to an additional two years with the Enstone-based outfit.
The 29-year-old French driver has made a notable impact since his arrival, achieving two podium finishes: at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix and the 2024 Sao Paulo Grand Prix. Expressing his enthusiasm about the extension, Gasly stated, “I’m thrilled to commit my long-term future to Alpine. As a Frenchman, especially, driving for a French car company makes me feel very proud.”
Gasly’s Commitment to Alpine’s Future
Gasly highlighted the supportive environment at Alpine, noting, “Since I joined in 2023, I have always felt that this team is the right place to be for the future. Flavio’s [Briatore] support and belief in me, François’ [Provost] commitment to the Formula 1 project, as well as the people we have in Enstone made this a natural decision.” He added that he looks forward to realizing their shared goal of winning races and world championships.
Alpine’s executive advisor, Flavio Briatore, praised Gasly’s role within the team during this challenging period in Formula 1. He remarked, “Since I returned to the team, I have always stated how important it is to build and grow the competitiveness of BWT Alpine Formula 1 Team. We’re well prepared for the new era of Formula 1, beginning in 2026, and now we have our lead driver confirmed to bring us well into the future.”
Looking Ahead to the Future
Briatore commended Gasly’s attitude, dedication, and talent, stating, “Pierre has been an immense asset for the team during this challenging period. I have been very impressed with his attitude, dedication and talent and we look forward to continuing this project together for a long time.”
With this contract extension, Gasly aims to build on his early successes and contribute significantly to Alpine’s ambitions in the upcoming seasons. The confidence shown by both Gasly and Briatore signals a strong partnership as the team prepares for the future of Formula 1.
