
Stanley D. Petchulis, a beloved member of the Mar Lin community, passed away peacefully at home on August 24, 2025, at the age of 90. Surrounded by family, he left behind a legacy of service, dedication, and love that touched many lives. Born on August 2, 1935, in Mar Lin, Stanley was the son of the late Stanislaus and Ella (Komorosky) Petchulis.
He graduated from Pottsville High School and served for six years in the U.S. Army, notably with the 82nd Airborne while stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. On June 18, 1961, he married June (Romain) Petchulis, marking the beginning of a remarkable partnership that lasted 64 years.
Business Ventures and Community Involvement
Together, Stanley and June operated Mar Lin Markets, a staple in the community. Stanley was dedicated not only to his business but also to his community involvement. He was a member of the Blue Mountain K Lions Club and the Mar Lin American Legion. His leadership extended to the role of Director at Union Saving & Loan in Minersville, as well as serving as a Supervisor in Norwegian Township.
A committed member of the SS Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Mount Carmel, Stanley also participated in the Holy Savior RCC in Ocean City, Maryland, where he spent many happy moments. His vibrant spirit resonated through his active involvement in multiple investment clubs.
A Passion for Family and Sports
Stanley was known for his deep love of baseball, often found reminiscing about his favorite players, particularly Ted Williams. His passion extended to collecting baseball cards and attending games, where he enjoyed sharing insights and stories with fellow enthusiasts.
Outside of sports, he cherished his time with family. Stanley enjoyed engaging in light-hearted conversations with his grandchildren, tending to his butchering skills, or simply savoring a morning coffee while reading the paper. His family remembers him for his unwavering humor and warmth.
He is survived by his loving wife, June, and their seven children: Ian Albert Petchulis, Stacey Petchulis Bosack, Stephen Petchulis, Michael Miller, Stanley Petchulis III, Marcella, and Bradley Petchulis. His legacy continues through his 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his love and spirit.
Stanley’s burial with military honors is scheduled for 09:30 AM on September 1, 2025, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville. A funeral procession will depart from Mar Lin Markets at 08:00 AM. Arrangements are being handled by Dutcavich Funeral Home & Cremation Care Inc.
His family remembers him fondly, echoing the sentiment: “We love and miss you, Stan!” As the community grieves the loss of a dedicated husband, father, and friend, Stanley D. Petchulis will be remembered for his significant contributions and the joy he brought to those around him.
