URGENT UPDATE: The Arizona Diamondbacks faced significant travel delays, arriving in Milwaukee at nearly 4 a.m. CDT today due to mechanical issues with their plane, just hours before their scheduled game against the Brewers.

The team’s flight was delayed when brake issues were discovered, requiring a replacement aircraft. Manager Torey Lovullo reported, “We had to find another plane. It was like a five-hour window before another plane could pick us up.” Lovullo himself reached his hotel room around 4:30 a.m., leaving the team with only 14 hours before the game.

This delay comes on the heels of the Diamondbacks’ 6-1 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday, adding pressure to the team as they prepare to face the Brewers in a crucial four-game series.

Despite the setback, Lovullo praised the team’s resilience. He highlighted the efforts of Roger Riley, the team’s director of travel, for keeping everyone informed during the ordeal. The players found creative ways to pass the time, including listening to an album of original songs released by reliever John Curtiss. “We were shooting the breeze, doing things a team would do if you had a rain delay or a plane delay,” Lovullo shared. “We took advantage of it, for sure.”

As the Diamondbacks look to shake off the travel fatigue and focus on their game tonight, fans are eager to see how this unexpected delay will impact their performance on the field. Stay tuned for updates as the situation develops throughout the day.
