The team’s flight was delayed when brake issues were discovered, requiring a replacement aircraft. Manager Torey Lovullo reported, “We had to find another plane. It was like a five-hour window before another plane could pick us up.” Lovullo himself reached his hotel room around 4:30 a.m., leaving the team with only 14 hours before the game.

The players found creative ways to pass the time, including listening to an album of original songs released by reliever John Curtiss. “We were shooting the breeze, doing things a team would do if you had a rain delay or a plane delay,” Lovullo shared. “We took advantage of it, for sure.”
