Six students were honored with scholarships during a special luncheon hosted by the Olivet Boys & Girls Club on August 13, 2023, at the Oakbrook Club in Reading, Pennsylvania. Each recipient received $7,500 to support their pursuit of higher education. This event underscores the club’s commitment to empowering youth through educational opportunities.

The luncheon celebrated the achievements of the scholarship recipients, all of whom are recent alumni of the Olivet Boys & Girls Club. The students recognized for their accomplishments are:

Noah Gibney, a 2025 graduate from Wyomissing High School, who plans to attend Berklee College of Music.
Zahavah Oliveras, also a 2025 graduate from Reading High School, set to enroll at Cedar Crest College.
Jennasea Rodriguez, a 2023 graduate from Wyomissing High School, currently attending Reading Area Community College.
Jeremiah Santiago, a 2024 graduate from Reading High School, who will attend Penn State Berks.
Kahlil Samuels, a 2025 graduate from Reading High School, planning to study at Virginia Union University.
Nico Sosa, a 2024 graduate from Reading High School, who will be going to Sussex Community College.

The scholarships were made possible through generous contributions from several donors, including Sue Palmer, Art Haberberger, Tom McMahon, and Bernice Lebo. Their support highlights the importance of community involvement in fostering educational growth among young individuals.

The Olivet Boys & Girls Club has a long-standing tradition of nurturing talent and providing resources for youth in the community. The scholarships awarded during this luncheon represent not only financial assistance but also recognition of hard work and dedication. As these students embark on their academic journeys, the club remains committed to supporting their development and ensuring they have access to opportunities that can change their lives.

This year’s luncheon was not just a celebration; it was a reminder of the impact that community organizations can have on the lives of young individuals. As the recipients pursue their dreams, they carry with them the support of those who believe in their potential and are invested in their future.
